2023 Teacher of The Year
We are pleased to announce that this morning we received a special visit from Governor Ned Lamont and Charlene Russell-Tucker, our Commissioner of Education, amongst other notable dignitaries, to announce our very own Ms. Kiana Foster-Mauro as the State of Connecticut’s Teacher of the Year! We are so VERY proud of Ms. Foster-Mauro and this amazing achievement!

2020 Schools of Distinction
The Magnet School of Merit Awards recognize magnet schools/programs that demonstrate an exemplary commitment to academic standards, curriculum innovation, desegregation/diversity efforts, specialized teaching staffs and parent and community involvement. Magnet School of Distinction Awards are the second level of awards given to magnet schools that have met all the basic requirements outlined in the merit awards scoring rubric.
New England Dance Championship 2020 Elementary Hip Hop – Rank 1
The Universal Dance Association (UDA) and Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) regional competition for dance teams from elementary school to college & university level. The competition focuses on the highest standards-the finest instructors, the best choreographers, and the most exciting and innovative routines across New England.
North East Voices Invitational 2020 Acknowledgment of Excellence
Nathan Hale A Cappella is one of the only elementary school groups in the country performing 3 and 4 part contemporary pop A cappella. The N.E. Voices is a two-day comprehensive festival experience in the Boston area for high school vocal ensembles and their teachers. The festival features dynamic performances, an optional competition, masterclasses, and workshops by experts in the field of contemporary A cappella.
2019 Magnet School of Excellence
The Magnet School of Merit Awards recognize magnet schools/programs that demonstrate an exemplary commitment to academic standards, curriculum innovation, desegregation/diversity efforts, specialized teaching staffs and parent and community involvement. Magnet School of Excellence Awards are given to only a select group of magnet schools that have demonstrated the highest level of excellence in all facets of the merit award application.
2017 Higher Order Thinking (HOT) Distinction as CT Spotlight School
Spotlight HOTSchoolswere selected with careful consideration given to the specific characteristics of each school such as geography, grade levels, governing policies, and demographics in addition to outstanding achievements and progress each school has made along the HOT Schools growth continuum in the Process of Becoming HOT.
