Family Resource Center

Welcome to the Family Resource Center!
The FRC is an extension of Child and Family Agency of Southeastern CT
We are located in the Main Office, Rm. 18

Services offered through the FRC include but are not limited to:

Resource and referral- Services include support and referral to agencies and programs assisting with housing, domestic violence, health and social services, counseling, recreation programs, education training opportunities, child care, employment, and more.

Playgroups- Free programs offered weekly during the school year for children aged birth to five years and their caregivers.

PAT- Parents as Teachers is a nationally recognized free parent education program available to expectant parents and families with children birth to five. All FRC staff are trained parent educators who are available to meet regularly with families to:

Address parent questions and concerns

Provide information on child growth and development

Suggest age-appropriate activities

Provide screenings to determine children’s physical, lingual, social, emotional, and cognitive growth

Preschool- The FRC works closely with Child and Family Agency’s two preschool centers. The New London Day Nursery and the Groton Early Childhood Development Center are family focused childcare programs for children 6 weeks to 5 years old. Tuition is based on a sliding fee scale.

After-School Care- The FRC staff are also teachers at the B.P. Learned Mission where a safe, nurturing environment, where children can grow and develop, during out of school time is available. The Mission offers the following services to children and their families: tutoring, homework help, theme based enrichment activities, structured recreation, self-esteem building and promotion of pro social behavior, cultural awareness, community involvement and educational field trips, referral to social and health related services, and a theater arts program.
